The Valley (Lower Quadrangle) View map

500 Howard PI NW, Washington, DC 20059

The Valley, also called the lower quadrangle, is home to several buildings which house progams in health and the sciences, including the Biology Building, the College of Pharmacy's Chaunce Cooper Building, and Thirkfield Hall, home to many chemistry labs and classrooms. The Valley is also a social gathering spot, and notably features monuments to the Greek-lettered fraternities and sororities founded at Howard: Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. was also founded by Howard students in a building a short distance from Howard's campus, and the Valley also features a monument in tribute to that organization.

The Valley can be accessed from 4th Street near the Cooper Building or by using the stairs behind Founders Library.
