BIOGRAPHY OF H.E. MS. YASSINE FALL
Her Excellency Ms. Yassine Fall is Senegal’s Minister of African Integration and Foreign Affairs. She earned her Master's degree in economics from Howard University 40 years ago and has since been a prominent advocate for social justice. After a 15-year career at the UN, including roles as UN Women Director of Economic Empowerment and Director of UN INSTRAW, she contributed significantly to the 2005 book "The End of Poverty" and various global policy initiatives.
Before the UN, she led an international consulting firm for 13 years, addressing macroeconomic policy, poverty eradication, and humanitarian operations. H.E. Ms. Fall also headed the Association of African Women for Research and Development (AAWORD) for four years, influencing the 1995 UN World Conference on Women and the Beijing Platform for Action.
Her extensive work includes rural development missions and humanitarian efforts across Africa, from conflict zones to refugee camps. She founded the African Women Millennium Initiative on Poverty and Human Rights (AWOMI) in 2006, which empowers young African leaders through the Young Women Knowledge and Leadership Institute (YOWLI). H.E. Ms. Fall speaks Wolof, French, English, Spanish, and conversational Portuguese.
