Please join the Civil Rights Clinic at Howard University School of Law for a timely discussion on Monday, April 6, 2026, from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Pauli Murray Room at the law school campus, 2900 Van Ness St NW. The Clinic is honored to host Jon Seward, a distinguished civil rights attorney, for an in-depth conversation with Professor Kristen Clarke. Their discussion will explore the intersection of technology, economics, and racial justice, specifically how artificial intelligence and modern algorithms are reshaping the landscape of redlining and impacting generational wealth in communities of color.

Jon Seward is a preeminent leader in fair lending enforcement with over 25 years of experience at the U.S. Department of Justice. He is widely recognized as the architect of the Department of Justice’s modern anti-redlining initiatives and has successfully overseen some of the largest fair lending settlements in U.S. history, securing over $1 billion in relief for underserved communities. Additionally, Professor Clarke brings a wealth of experience to this dialogue as the newly appointed General Counsel of the NAACP and the former Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division of the U.S. Department of Justice. This event offers a unique opportunity for students interested in law, political science, technology, and economic justice to engage with leading experts on one of the most pressing civil rights challenges of the digital age.

Lunch will be provided. We look forward to welcoming the main campus community to the law school for this important dialogue.
