158th Opening Convocation

Howard University’s 2025 Opening Convocation will take place on Friday, September 19. Doors will open for seating at 9:30 a.m. and the ceremony will begin promptly at 10:45 a.m. at which time all guests must be seated.

Opening Convocation is a time-honored tradition that officially celebrates the beginning of the new academic year. To ensure everyone can partake in this special event, classes will be suspended from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Please mark your calendars and plan to join us.
