About this Event
Howard University Drone Academy
Join the Howard University College of Engineering and Architecture for the HU Drone Academy, an immersive, hands-on summer experience designed for high school students interested in engineering, robotics, and emerging technologies.
This five-day summer program introduces participants to the fundamentals of unmanned aerial systems through real-world applications and guided instruction.
Students will gain practical experience in building, operating, and programming quad-rotor drones. Through a dynamic curriculum, participants will explore safe flight operations, develop coding skills for autonomous missions, and learn how drones are used in areas such as aerial photography and precision inspections. The program emphasizes hands-on learning, innovation, and the development of industry-relevant skills that prepare students for future careers in STEM fields.
Open to students entering grades 10–12, the Drone Academy will be held on Howard University’s campus in Washington, DC. Space is limited, and participation requires completion of an application process.
More details will be shared with selected applicants through the application process. For additional information, please contact Todd Shurn at tshurn@Howard.edu.
