Bryan Jenkins: Bryan M. Jenkins, Ph.D. is a cultural scholar who received his degree in Communication, Culture and Media Studies from Howard University. He is a Research Assistant Professor in the School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of South Carolina, where he conducts research that engages culture, health, and media. His research explores how marginalized groups educate and empower one another and find resiliency through both traditional and digital practices. Dr. Jenkins is a 2022 inductee into the Yale University Bouchet Graduate Honor Society and has been recognized as a 2022 Rising Graduate Scholar by Diverse: Issues in Higher Education. Dr. Jenkins has also led projects for Traditional Arts DC, a cultural heritage program that focuses on people native to Washington, D.C., primarily Black and Indigenous people.
Kimberly Monroe: Kimberly F. Monroe, PhD, a native of South Louisiana, is a writer, cultural curator, and an associate professor of Africana Studies based in Washington, DC. Her recent writings have been published in Picturing Black History, The Funambulist magazine, and Spirit House: A Crossroads Project with Princeton University.
Stephanie Evans: Dr. Stephanie Y. Evans, Professor of Black Women’s Studies at Georgia State University, researches Black women’s intellectual history with a focus on mental health and wellness. Author of Black Women’s Yoga History and other works, she edits the SUNY Black Women’s Wellness series and has co-edited five influential volumes.
